The number of photographs included on this page will depend upon server space available. I will start with just one image, a picture of my hometown of Clare in South Australia. It was taken from a point north of Billygoat Hill, looking west over the north end of the main street, in June 1863. The two-storey building on the left was the Globe Hotel, now demolished and replaced by a single-storey bakery/butcher. The building with the dormer windows in its wood shingle roof was the Clare Inn, later the Commercial Hotel, and after many changes it is now the Taminga Hotel of two storeys. The photograph is an enlargement of one half of a faded stereograph. Use your bottom scrollbar to see the part of the picture which is off-screen to your right.                 Return to    CONTENTS    page.
